Review: WhiBal White Balance Reference Card

Unlike your eyes, a digital camera does not automatically see whites as white; it only sees the light reflected off of white. Since light can be at different temperatures whites could appear tinted to the camera. Your camera has internal functions and different setting to help it figure out how to make whites white, but the best way to be sure color is accurate and that your pictures can be properly white balanced is to use a neutral grey reference card.
My former method of using a neutral source to set white balance was to ask my wife to wear her almost neutral grey tshirt and then used her as my reference photo. When the shirt wore out I had to find a different method.
I selected the WhiBal White Balance Reference based on its convenient sizes and reasonable price. The card is made of a spectrally neutral material. The card is produced in the USA and is waterproof and scratch proof . It comes in many different sizes such as a pocket size, 15 cm, full size, and even a key chain size. I can use the stand to place the card into a test shot or take a reference photo for my camera’s custom white balance feature.
I found the card was durable and easy to use and the support information on the website was very helpful. RawWorkflow.com has produced a great product that produces good results. They have made it as easy as possible to have the card with you but it is still up to you to use it.
